Inspiration
“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” – Helen Keller
SURVIVING THE HEAT WAVES! We hope you are continuing to stay cool and hydrated. CCLC has been negotiating the summer months by working on a totally new website, revamping our workshop to include virtual training, and continuing with tutoring, distance learning, and more Zoom meetings than you can imagine! See what’s happening!
Announcements
This event was a huge success! On Saturday, August 8th, CCLC partnered with United Way of Charles County and forty other organizations, and were able to impact 201 households (804 individuals) with very practical resources totaling $97,634 in value. That means the average household received over $400 in goods and services! Stay tuned for info on the next community event, scheduled for October 28th at the Blue Crabs Regency Stadium!
We are extremely pleased to announce the launching of our new website. We know that you will love the new look, informative and the ease of finding information. CCLC has huge thanks and gratitude to our tutor Alexandra Jellerette and her company Zane Networks for offering their services and intern Danielle Carroll and Farah LeBlanc for undertaking this project for CCLC. COVID-19 Update
Many businesses have reopened with limited capacity, masks required. At CCLC, we are still open for business and continue to primarily work remotely. We can now use the United Way conference room with strict protocol measures. You can contact us Mon-Thurs., between 9:30 am and 1:30 pm The best contact method is via email at charlescountyliteracy@gmail.com.
CCLC Grant News
We received the news of being awarded a $15,000 Charles County Charitable Trust grant. This is a huge revenue asset for CCLC. While the award of this grant, along with the two COVID-19 relief grants and the PPP, is sustaining CCLC, we will still be in need of additional revenue for sustainability. Whether or not we will be able to have our 2021 Adult Spelling Bee (our biggest annual fundraiser) remains undetermined at this time. The Board and staff will be meeting regarding what budget funds will be needed and what plans we have for fundraising going forward. We welcome all thoughts, input and assistance. Every nonprofit in Charles County is in the same position. We are truly all in this together.
